July 4th celebrations around Fort Mill

With COVID-19 cases on the rise across the country, 4th of July celebrations will look a bit different this year. Some events are now virtual, while others are carrying on with their annual traditions with safety precautions in place.

July 4th

Join the fun of Baxter's 17th Annual 4th of July Parade that starts at 9:30am! You can watch from Market Street but the parade will also wind through much of Baxter. Want to show off your patriotism and be in the parade instead? No registration is necessary; around 9am, head to the parking lots lots behind Killington's at 940 Market Street.

June 29-July 4

Fort Mill made the tough decision to cancel in-person celebrations, but instead they have a fun-filled week of virtual activities to partake in! Expect things like bingo, firework crafts, trivia, photo contests, and a virtual firing of the canons. Prizes will be awarded for event winners.

June 26-July 4

You can expect all sorts of virtual contests from sidewalk chalk, pie and ice cream eating contests to a singing, patriotic photo and event poster contest. Enter up to eight contests and win gift cards to downtown Rock Hill restaurants and retail shops.

July 4th

[UPDATED FRIDAY, JULY 3] The annual land parade has been cancelled, but the fireworks show is still on and will begin at 9:30pm.

There's very important information regarding parking for the fireworks show so please read below and read the full post here.

Here's a snippet: "The parking lot at the Tega Cay Golf & Conference Center will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Once that parking lot is full, only people who live on or off of Molokai Drive will be allowed through the ID check point at Molokai and Tega Cay Dr. Anyone not living on or off of Molokai Drive will be directed to Runde Park or back to the Tega Cay Elementary School parking lots. Having guests join you? Be sure they're with you by 6pm or else they may not be able to locate you until after the fireworks show."

WORDS OF WISDOM

Be safe, social distance, and wear a mask if you're not able to social distance. Don't attend an event if you are uncomfortable going or are not feeling well.
