Om Yoga Brings Infrared Heat to the Studio

If the words “heated yoga” make you picture a sweltering room and a very intense hot yoga class, think again. Om Yoga recently installed 10 infrared heat panels to its studio as part of a renovation and investment designed with its clients in mind. And while the new technology does create warmth, Om Yoga says the goal isn’t to turn every class into hot vinyasa.

Think warmth—not scorching heat.

Infrared heat works differently from traditional heating systems, using infrared panels to create a warming effect throughout the studio. The technology has become increasingly popular in wellness spaces around the world, and Om Yoga wanted to bring the experience to its clients.

More Than Just Heat

According to Om Yoga, infrared warmth can complement a yoga practice in several ways, including helping muscles feel warmer, supporting circulation and making it easier to move into stretches.

Some of the potential benefits associated with infrared heat include:

  1. Pain relief: The warmth may help relax muscles and joints and can be especially soothing for those dealing with everyday aches and post-exercise soreness.

  2. Increased circulation: Infrared warmth can encourage blood flow, while the relaxing environment may also help create a calming experience.

  3. Greater flexibility: Warm muscles are generally easier to stretch, which can help support range of motion during a yoga practice.

  4. Weight loss: Our bodies work hard to regulate our temperature. As the body heats up, its natural cooling system kicks in, which takes energy and burns calories. Infrared heat increases metabolism between the blood and tissue, which also burns calories.

  5. Detoxification: Infrared heat cam make you sweat, which is a good thing;
    it’s the body's natural way of flushing toxins. Impurities released from the body create a detoxifying cleanse on the cellular level.

A Different Way to Experience Yoga

For Om Yoga, the addition of infrared heat is ultimately about creating another beneficial layer to the studio experience. It's about wellness, promoting longevity, and benefiting all bodies.

The gentle warmth can help clients settle into their practice, loosen up and slow down, whether they're coming in for movement, stretching, relaxation or simply a little time for themselves.
