Fort Mill sisters write new children's book, DJ the Scratchy Cat

There's nothing like a mischievous cat to keep you company! Learn about DJ the Scratchy Cat, a children's book written by two Fort Mill natives and sisters, Jacqueline and Lauren, who is a third grade teacher in the Fort Mill School District.

They grew up in the Fort Mill area, and while Jacqueline was at Clemson she got DJ the cat. DJ has always been a fan favorite amongst friends and family for his precarious attitude. One day, Jacqueline was babysitting, and the kids questioned the scratches on her hand she had gotten from DJ. From that day on, the kids asked about DJ and started playing a game called "Scratchy Cat." This sparked an idea, and the first story about DJ was written.

About the Book

Little Brittany feels alone but thinks a fluffy cat might make her feel better. Looking online, she finds DJ and falls in love with the cute orange kitten. DJ goes home with Brittany and so begins their fun.

Kittens are curious creatures, so at first, tiny DJ gets into everything. Brittany learns pretty quickly that cats do not like baths, even when they're dirty. They do, however, love to cuddle.

DJ the Scratchy Cat is the story of a beloved family feline. He's mischievous, naughty, and full of attitude-exactly the way you want your cat to be.
