Piedmont Medical Center is introducing a strategic realignment of services across its campuses to expand capacity, enhance care, and better meet the needs of the region’s growing population.
Beginning May 12, all obstetrics, labor and delivery, and Level III neonatal services will be centralized at the Piedmont Medical Center – Fort Mill campus. This transition will allow for expanded, specialized care for mothers and newborns in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

At the same time, the Piedmont Medical Center – Rock Hill campus will increase its focus on critical services, including trauma care, surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiovascular treatment—enhancing its ability to care for patients with complex medical needs.
In addition, Piedmont Physicians Network will open a new obstetrics and gynecology location in Indian Land, further expanding access to high-quality care in the area. Existing outpatient offices in both Rock Hill and Fort Mill will continue to operate as usual.
“It is important that we invest our resources and tailor our services to meet the needs of our growing communities,” said CEO Teresa Urquhart. “We are committed to building exceptional teams, delivering the highest quality care, and ensuring patients have access to advanced healthcare close to home.”
Fort Mill CEO Chris Mitchell added, “By centralizing women’s services at our Fort Mill campus, we can provide moms, babies, and families with a more personalized, high-quality experience. Our team is proud to offer comprehensive care in a setting designed for comfort, accessibility, and excellence.”
Piedmont Medical Center – Rock Hill will continue to provide full obstetrical services through the May transition. Afterward, its emergency department will remain fully equipped to care for pregnant patients and coordinate any necessary follow-up care.
Expectant mothers are encouraged to tour the Fort Mill facility ahead of their delivery to get a firsthand look at what to expect at the new campus.
