12 things to do this Labor Day Weekend

Sunny skies lie ahead this Labor Day Weekend! Check out some fun things to do in and around Fort Mill and how you can soak up that extra day.


1. Start your weekend off at Anne Spring Close Greenway enjoying the award-winning bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers at the Comporium Amphitheater! Gates open at 4:30PM with Briarhoppers taking the stage at 5:30PM, followed by Steep Canyon Rangers from 7-9PM.


2. Float down the Catawba River. Grab your friends and tubes and head to the Fort Mill Dam to float down the river in this beautiful weather. Visit York County has tips for the perfect tubing adventure!


3. This Saturday from 2-5PM, head to Amor Artis Brewing for their Tails and Ales adoption event! This is a great opportunity to chat with Halfway There Rescue about the adopting and fostering process.


4. Enjoy a Sunday funday! There are great brunch options in our local area including the Greenway's Gateway Canteen, Napa at Kingsley, The Pump House, and Fish Market.


5. Rent a boat and cruise Lake Wylie! What better way to enjoy the beautiful weather than on a pontoon boat with family and friends. Half day and full day options are available through Lake Wylie Boat Rental.


6. Unwind from the week with an outdoor yoga class at Anne Springs Close Greenway. All are welcome, from beginners to seasoned yogis!


7. Enjoy some friendly competition at Indian Land's High Seas Mini Golf and Mr. Putty's Fun Park! Mr. Putty's also has a ropes course, axe throwing, bungee jumper and more and is offering big savings on mini golf this Labor Day Weekend Friday-Monday.


8. Start your Saturday morning off at the Fort Mill Farmers Market! From 8:30AM-12:30PM, stop by Veterans Park (106 N. White St.) to shop from local artisans and merchants. Flipped Family Food Truck will be serving their delicious breakfast too!


9. Looking for something to do indoors? Check out Craft Axe Throwing in downtown Fort Mill. There are ten lanes, a stocked bar, and TVs in case you're looking to catch the start of football season. They're also offering a "glow throw" this weekend under black lights and is open extended hours this Sunday to extend the long weekend fun!


10. Take a walk on The Piedmont Medical Center Trail, located in the Riverwalk community of Rock Hill. This wide trail offers scenic views of the Catawba River and is bike and stroller friendly. It's 3.35-mile trail connecting to nearby River Park (the trail does not loop.) When you return, enjoy a coffee drink or glass of wine at Grapevine or grab a bite at The Pump House, Blend or Tony's Cantina.


11. If you're wanting to feel the start of fall, make your way out to Windy Hill Orchard and Cidery! Open Thursday-Sunday until Christmas, they offer award-winning hard ciders, fresh pressed apple cider, and a variety of other fresh made apple products. Pick-your-own apples starts Sept. 8, but you can buy pre-picked apples now.
