Dear Danielle: Wearing Trends on a Budget
Dear Danielle:
I know it’s spring time and a lot of the clothing out now is cold or off the shoulder. I don’t want to spend a ton of money on items that are trendier and not work appropriate. However, I have family vacations and weddings coming up! How can I wear this trend, without breaking the budget?

Hey Amy,
I understand completely. I tell a lot of my clients that it’s important that your wardrobe be effortless and hardworking. This keeps the budget intact, but also ensures variety in your wardrobe.
Opt for cold shoulder tops that can be pulled over your shoulders. This convertible option makes the trend work a little harder by being appropriate for both work and vacay.
In addition, adding a complimentary color cardigan/blazer can keep you on trend, but chic. For example, for a white cold shoulder top, layer a bright green cardigan or royal blue blazer. Pair it with gold or mustard flats for an easy, but pulled together work look.
To make this look a little more elegant for a special event, style your hair in a braided, but messy updo, and pair your off the shoulder top with sleek earrings that you already own. For an easy pop of neck candy, add a druzy stone and bar layering piece. This look transitions from work, to play to formal in a snap.
