Memorial Day Weekend Guide
It's time to start planning the first unofficial kickoff to summer, Memorial Day Weekend! Planning a fun-filled weekend can be a little stressful, so we are here to make planning a bit easier!
If you’re looking to stay in the area check out all that the Anne Springs Close Greenway has to offer. With over 2,000 acres of lakes, forest, and pastures there is a lot to do including horseback riding, kayaking, and hiking trails that offer beautiful views! For those that have furry children, make sure to visit the Mary Warner Mack dog park, which has over 12 acres of natural space for dogs of all sizes to play.
Grab the family and head to Carowinds for an action packed weekend. JoyFest will be held on Saturday, May 26, so if you are into gospel music be sure to snag a ticket. On Sunday and Monday Carowinds will pay tribute to our brave military men and women by offering FREE admission with a valid military I.D.
If you are looking to venture outside of Fort Mill the U.S. National Whitewater Center will hold a Memorial Day Celebration all weekend long. From yoga and trail races to live music and fireworks, you are sure to find an activity for your liking!
If you find yourself in Charlotte on Saturday, Sycamore Brewing is having a Lobster and Beer fest from 12-10 p.m. There will be live music, lots of food trucks, craft beer and wine. Then while in Uptown, our very own Charlotte Knights will be home playing Indianapolis all Memorial Day Weekend. Head up to the BB&T Ballpark and enjoy some yummy food with a view of the Charlotte skyline.
On Sunday the Tega Cay Veterans Association is hosting their annual 5K Run starting at 6 p.m. Register here. A ceremony will be held on Monday in the Living Memorial Gardens beginning at 10 a.m to honor those who are served.
To end the holiday weekend, drop by Fort Mill's Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. in Veterans Park.
