Fort Mill to Host Two Days of Patriotic Celebrations

Get ready for a patriotic weekend full of live entertainment and family fun—the Town of Fort Mill is celebrating Independence Day with a two-day event series on July 3 and 4, and everyone’s invited to join in the festivities.
Thursday, July 3 – Independence Day Celebration at Walter Elisha Park
Fort Mill kicks things off on Thursday evening, July 3, with a family-friendly celebration at Walter Elisha Park and the Fort Mill Amphitheater. From 6-9:30PM, guests can expect a lively mix of food trucks, live music, kids’ activities, roving performers, and a fireworks finale!
Highlights include:
Live Music
A Most Patriotic Contest (open to both children and adults!)
Roving entertainers like Sam & Liberty, Spirit Squad Dancers, and Red, White & Blue Stilt Walkers
Kids’ crafts, face painting, and balloon artists
Fireworks finale
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this festive summer night under the stars.
Friday, July 4 – 53rd Annual Firing of the Cannons
The celebration continues the following morning in downtown Fort Mill with one of the town’s longest-standing traditions: the 53rd Annual Firing of the Cannons.
The ceremony begins at 10:00 AM and includes:
Remarks from Town Council
Appearances by the South Carolina Strawberry Queens
Performances by Meghna Gopaluni, Kassidy and Kyle Gavagan, Georgia Hathaway, and Encore Music Studio
A special historical tribute presented by Myla Smith, an 8th grader from Banks Trail Middle School
The ceremonial Firing of the Cannons, a tradition proudly led for the 52nd year by the Short Family
After the ceremony, stick around to explore downtown Fort Mill’s shops, cafés, and restaurants, many of which will be open and ready to welcome visitors throughout the holiday!
