Thursday, July 3 – Independence Day Celebration at Walter Elisha Park

Fort Mill kicks things off on Thursday evening, July 3, with a family-friendly celebration at Walter Elisha Park and the Fort Mill Amphitheater. From 6-9:30PM, guests can expect a lively mix of food trucks, live music, kids’ activities, roving performers, and a fireworks finale!

Highlights include:

  • Live Music

  • A Most Patriotic Contest (open to both children and adults!)

  • Roving entertainers like Sam & Liberty, Spirit Squad Dancers, and Red, White & Blue Stilt Walkers

  • Kids’ crafts, face painting, and balloon artists

  • Fireworks finale

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this festive summer night under the stars.

Friday, July 4 – 53rd Annual Firing of the Cannons

The celebration continues the following morning in downtown Fort Mill with one of the town’s longest-standing traditions: the 53rd Annual Firing of the Cannons.

The ceremony begins at 10:00 AM and includes:

  • Remarks from Town Council

  • Appearances by the South Carolina Strawberry Queens

  • Performances by Meghna Gopaluni, Kassidy and Kyle Gavagan, Georgia Hathaway, and Encore Music Studio

  • A special historical tribute presented by Myla Smith, an 8th grader from Banks Trail Middle School

  • The ceremonial Firing of the Cannons, a tradition proudly led for the 52nd year by the Short Family

After the ceremony, stick around to explore downtown Fort Mill’s shops, cafés, and restaurants, many of which will be open and ready to welcome visitors throughout the holiday!
