Fostering the Family hosting their 5th annual Fight for Families 5K October 19th, 2024

This is part of our Community series. Submit your story here.

Submitted by Susie Boyle-- Fostering the Family will be hosting our Fifth Annual Fight for Families 5k Trail Run/Walk. This race will be held at Allison Creek Park and will bring awareness to the local foster and adoption crisis. While this race is a true 5k, it will also have some elements that offer an interactive insight into the life of a child traveling through the child welfare system. Medals will be awarded to race winners per age category. Join us as we experience the reality of foster care and come together as a community to bring about change!

We will offer a 5k race for all ages beginning at 9 am, which will be timed by both male and female divisions per age category. We are asking that all participants be at the race by 8 am. There will be interactive stations leading up to the start line, two water stations during the race, followed by the awards ceremony. Please be aware of our interactive stations! You will be able to visit them from 8-9 am before the race begins.

Packet pick up will be from 7:45- 8:45 am on race day. We will have an Awards Ceremony at 10:30 am following the race. Each runner will receive their time via text from Queen City Timing.

If your business, nonprofit, or church is interested in sponsorship or vendor tables we encourage participation.
