Crystal Cox Shimer is a budding children's book author, local to Fort Mill/Tega Cay, who is excited to share her first publication with the most wonderful community! Pickles and Pork Rind is about two seemingly different animals, an elephant and an armadillo, who meet in an unusual place, and appear to be very different in looks, personality and background.
In this simple rhyming story, these two characters quickly share many experiences together, are able to complement one another and become best friends. The story is loosely based on how Crystal and her husband met while living in the US Virgin Islands (thus the subtle references in the story and illustrations), inspiring a short tale of keeping open minds, open arms, open eyes and open hearts that very often lead to wonderful and lifelong lasting relationships.
Book 2 (Pickles and Pork Rind Go on a Road Trip) will be published in the next couple of months!
