Piedmont Medical Center Achieves Five-Star Ratings and Ranks in the Top 50 U.S. Hospitals for Outpatient Prostate Care

Piedmont Medical Center has been named among America’s 50 Best for Outpatient Prostate Care by Healthgrades, a leading healthcare ratings and physician-finding platform used by millions of Americans. This prestigious distinction places Piedmont Medical Center in the top tier of hospitals nationwide for outpatient specialty care—an honor that underscores the hospital’s commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for patients undergoing critical procedures.

Healthgrades’ analysis highlights a significant gap in outcomes between top-performing hospitals and those not recognized for outpatient excellence. According to the three-year study, if all hospitals performed at the same level as five-star facilities, more than 36,000 complications could have been avoided.

“Healthgrades’ outpatient awards identify the nation’s top-performing hospitals in some of the fastest-growing areas of healthcare, helping consumers find high quality care tailored to their specific needs,” said Alana Biggers, MD, MPH, medical advisor at Healthgrades. “Piedmont Medical Center goes above and beyond to deliver outstanding outcomes for patients undergoing critical procedures, and we’re proud to recognize it as a national leader in outpatient prostate care.”

In addition to its national distinction for outpatient prostate care, Piedmont Medical Center also received Five-Star Ratings from Healthgrades for its treatment of stroke and respiratory failure, further demonstrating its excellence across multiple areas of specialty care.

These achievements reflect what matters most: patient outcomes. As part of its 2026 hospital assessment, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across more than 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. By providing transparent and objective performance measures, the organization helps patients identify hospitals that consistently deliver high-quality care.

“Achieving these awards is a testament to the hard work, compassion, and excellence of our entire team,” said Teresa Urquhart, Piedmont Medical Center Market CEO. “I am proud of our physicians, clinicians, and everyone involved in earning these accomplishments. For Piedmont Medical Center, our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve, and these awards prove our commitment to our patients and their families.”

Healthgrades’ findings show that patients treated at nationally recognized hospitals between 2022 and 2024 had significantly better outcomes than those treated at facilities that did not receive recognition — a testament to the impact of quality-focused care.

With this new national distinction and continued five-star performance, Piedmont Medical Center further cements its role as a leader in delivering top-tier healthcare to the region.
