This family-operated mini-outfitters not only provides kayak rentals, guided tours, and shuttles, but also offers customized summer camp, private soccer training, and activities for corporate events and birthday parties.
It's clear that owners Billy Wilken and Stephanie Vendrell are passionate about the outdoors, wildlife, and teaching kids skills for adventure and sport. It's time to explore the beautiful water around you! Optimist Training provides shuttle service on Lake Wylie and the Catawba River. They offer guided river tours, paddling instruction, and boat rentals for small groups, families, and kids. Already have a boat? Take advantage of their kayak shuttle service!

Are you searching for the perfect summer or after school program for your child or group of friends? Billy has 30 years of experience designing, developing and implementing camp fun! Take a break from the big groups and give your child and their closest friends a private, personalized experience with specialized sports training and outdoor adventures.
Within their equipment and insurance parameters, Optimist Training can create a personalized camp experience. They currently offer soccer and multi-sport training, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and disc golf, which includes equipment for up to six campers.
Custom Camp Example
Four school friends' families commit to a week of camp together and have three activities in mind: soccer, disc golf, and kayaking. Start at 8:30am with soccer; head to the disc golf course at 9:30am; later, put kayaks in the water, then finish with more soccer training before pick-up at 4:30pm. After School Camp may include time for schoolwork if desired.
Hone your soccer skills this summer with private or group training! All standard sessions are 60 minutes and start at $50. The programs are developed around the player's needs. Billy can focus on technical striking, ball control, first touch development, footwork, balance, big picture strategy, individual and small group game tactics, movement off the ball, finishing, fitness, resilience, composure, intensity, spirit, sportsmanship, attitude, work ethic, commitment and hard work - all important aspects of the game.
